Our fabrication capabilities span a diverse range of applications, including the welding and assembly of profile steel support jigs, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and stainless steel piping systems. Construction and Project Management
We have played a key role in the ongoing maintenance and upgrade of the Dust Handling Plant at Eskom’s Tutuka Power Station for the past 8 years. Our scope of work has included the dismantling, refurbishment, and construction of various subsystems within the plant, often under challenging operational conditions. Projects of this nature demand not only deep technical capability but also robust project management expertise—something GMEC delivers in-house. From scheduling and resource coordination to risk mitigation and quality assurance, our project teams ensure that all activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client specifications and regulatory standards. This consistent performance has positioned GMEC as a trusted partner in the delivery of large-scale industrial maintenance and construction projects across the energy sector and beyond.
Piping and 3rd Party Inspections
We are fully equipped to deliver third-party statutory inspection services, performed by qualified in-house inspectors in accordance with national and international standards. Our SAIW accreditation, established in [insert year], underpins our credibility and technical compliance in this specialised field. Since then, GMEC has successfully completed over 50 independent third-party inspections, covering a wide range of components such as pressure vessels, pressure pipework, pressure accessories, and various structural steel elements. Complementing our inspection services, GMEC also offers in-house fabrication and process pipe welding for multiple Nominal Bores (NB) and Nominal Pipe Sizes (NPS). Our welding capabilities include CO₂ (MIG) and TIG processes, applied in accordance with best practices and client specifications. We are further able to fabricate ASME B16.5 flanged piping systems across a variety of diameters—delivered from our workshop with precision and adherence to industry codes.
